The WW Club Work Party IWD edition with Sarah Law of Kara

Last week, Phoebe Lovatt of the WW Club kicked off her trademark Work Party group work sessions on International Women’s Day in New York City.

Phoebe had the pleasure to receive guest designer Sarah Law, founder of accessories brand KARA in our 26 Broadway location.

Sarah Law is an American-Chinese designer originally from Hong Kong. A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, she was included in Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 issue in 2016.

She first started designing when she worked at the GAP designing accessories. It didn’t take her to long to realize that she wanted to be her own boss. “It was always a dream of mine to have my own business growing up.” With zero background in the fashion business, she dove head first and learnt as she went. It’s your typical startup story—girl quits job to pursue dream. A dream that became reality out of her apartment.

KARA was launched in the fall of2013. The brand specializes in women’s handbags, but also offers a variety of leather accessories. The line celebrates individuality, authenticity and modernity.

“I really like to say that I design hand bags for girls that don’t wear hand bags,” Sarah says. KARA distinguishes themselves by creating pieces that speak to simplicity and functionality.

During her talk at the Work Party, Sarah shared some insights on her journey with KARA. From her humble beginnings to growing and managing a team, Sarah has carved her way to an organized work/life balance.
